| I make borders for quilt labels in
Electric Quilt, but I do not
print quilt labels from EQ. I print them from a Desktop Publishing program
-- PrintMaster being my favorite cuz I can position label & text in the
middle of the page which makes for easy centering of the text on the
label. I have PrintMaster, version 7. It's working fine and I do not plan
on upgrading! Have EQ5 & PrintMaster both open.
|
| EQ5: Make a quilt, with border |
 |
Number of blocks: 1 (vertical, horizontal)
Size of block: 6"w x 4"h (or
any other size rectangle, or a square)
Border - .5" all around (or any other size)
Border Style - 4 horizontal, 3 vertical (or any other number)
Overall size of quilt -- 7"w x 5"h (or any other size rectangle, or a
square)
|
 |
Choose your block for the border.
Set blocks in border in Layer 1.
Rotate and/or mirror blocks, if necessary. The center of quilt will be left empty. |
 |
Right click on quilt layout and uncheck "Outline Patches", "Outline
Blocks", "Outline Border". |
- Click the "export" icon,
- Draw out a rectangle around quilt.
- Copy to clipboard.
|
| PrintMaster |
 |
Open a new poster.
Paste quilt onto poster.
Right click on quilt - Position - Center on page.
Don't be concerned about the size of the label, until after the text is
typed.
|
 |
Click on Text Box tool and draw out a text box.
Right click on Text Box - Position - center on page.
Type in your text. Highlight text to change font, size of font. I used
Pageant, size 18.
Adjust size of text box so that the text "just fits". Click and drag
sides and top/bottom to adjust size of text box. Right click on Text Box -
Position - center on page.
If necessary, adjust size of label to size of Text Box. Hold down Shift key and click
on one of the corners of highlighted quilt to size it proportionately.
Right click on quilt - Position - center on page.
|
| Border & text box should be grouped so that they can be moved on
poster and positioned in order to conserve on fabric printout or Photo
Transfer Paper. |
 |
Click Edit - Select All
Arrange - Group
Now, you can move the text and Border towards top of page and print. Or
fill up the page with more objects that you wish to print.
|
- If printing onto fabric, print the label as is.
- If printing onto Photo Transfer paper, the label will have to be
mirrored.
