Measuring Quilt for Borders


Cut 2 border strips (any width),
the measurement of the width of the quilt,
measuring across center of quilt,
from one side to the other.


Sew one border strip to top of quilt,
sew the other border strip to the bottom.


Sew one border strip to one side of quilt,
sew the other border strip to the other side
.



Cut 2 border strips (any width),
the measurement of the length of the quilt,
measuring across center of quilt,
from top to bottom.

At this point, "square up" quilt, if necessary.

AnotherPat's General Directions are methods that I have used, successfully, over the years.  They are shortcuts and/or tips.  The directions should not be used when making a quilt for a Quilt Show.  Quilt Show entries require specific directions and vary from entry to entry.
