Janine - Quilt #1, no borders
Janine - Quilt #2

Barbara - Tampa FL

I worked on it right after September 11th, and it has served as a sort of therapy for me. It isn't perfect, I had never pieced a quilt before, and I have never machine quilted one, either.

The 'cornerstones' are made up of firefighter fabrics, to serve as a memorial. I'm an ex-firefighter/paramedic, my husband is a firefighter, and the loss of FDNY has hit me the hardest. They are 'brothers'.

Thanks again..this helped my quilting abilities, and helped me do something constructive with my grief.

Blessings, Emmy

Made in bright colors.
The blue border is a fireworks design.

I was visiting in Seattle, and my young 21 year old nephew and I shared the trauma...I made him this quilt with the New York and Seattle skylines. War Eagles are quilted in the red cornerstones in the border.

And then I did another one for myself, not yet quilted, with New York and Washington skylines, as we are retired military.

I made the Flag Quilt larger and gave it to my brother in law who is a volunteer firefighter here in Florida. I backed it with a Victorian style reproduction stripe print; all but one of the fabrics were $1 a yard and kept with the reproduction style fabric.

The outer border is actually white stars on dark blue background.
